What I Didn't Know About Transmission Repair Flushes and Cost

I knew oil changes are necessary around every three months (or is it four?). As it turns out there are many other aspects to car care. My transmission education started last summer. It was a hot morning. Because I was late to work I decided to hurry up. As I sped up past the burger place, I put it into third. I felt a quick stall and short rumble emanating from the front of my car. Well, that's disconcerting, I said aloud to myself. For the next twenty minutes of my commute the same thing would occur. Great, I muttered to myself. I arrived to work and luckily Tom, an automobile hobbyist was already in the office. As soon as I told him what happened he knew what the problem was. He informed me all about transmissions, even though I didn't need to hear most of it. He told me the problem was most likely old transmission fluid. When the fluid wears out, it becomes less effective at its job, which is to keep the transmission lubricated, or something. I might need a transmission flush. To make sure he was correct he sent me to a good repair shop down the street. After work I headed over there. When I arrived the mechanics were quick to help me and were very friendly. They even offered a free diagnostic test. Even before the results came back they already knew what the problem would be. And my co-worker was correct. After the shop flushed my transmission I was back on the road, my car running smoother than ever.
